What Are Cookies & Local Storage
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites. Local Storage and Session Storage are similar browser-based mechanisms that store data locally on your device. Together we call these "browser storage" in this policy.
Browser storage is used to make websites work properly - remembering that you're logged in, storing your preferences, and providing security. Akili Suite uses browser storage only for these functional purposes, not for advertising or tracking.
What We Use
The Akili Suite platform uses a strictly minimal set of browser storage. Every item below is essential for the platform to function.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| hb_access_token | localStorage | Stores your JWT session token so you stay logged in across page loads. Contains your role and tenant ID - no personal data beyond what's in the token. | Cleared on logout or 30 days inactivity |
| hb_user | localStorage | Caches basic profile data (name, email, role) to avoid repeated API calls on every page load. | Cleared on logout |
| hb_tenant | localStorage | Caches your firm's tenant configuration (branding, colours, portal title) to prevent a flash of unstyled content. | Cleared on logout, refreshed on login |
The marketing website (akilisuite.com) uses no browser storage at all. No cookies, no localStorage, nothing. It is a pure static site.
What We Don't Use
We have deliberately not installed any of the following:
- Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or any Google tracking
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel or any social media tracking pixels
- Hotjar, Heap, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any behavioural analytics tools that record individual user sessions or movements
- Advertising networks or retargeting cookies of any kind
- Third-party A/B testing tools that inject tracking scripts
- Cross-site tracking cookies that follow you around the internet
Third-Party Storage
Certain third-party services we use may set their own cookies or storage on your device when you interact with specific features:
| Service | When Set | Purpose | Their Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | On all pages | Security and DDoS protection. _cf_bm and _cfuvid cookies manage bot detection. These are essential security cookies - not advertising. | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Paystack | On payment checkout only | Paystack's payment iframe may set session cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing when you initiate a billing transaction. | paystack.com/privacy |
Your Choices
Because we only use strictly necessary browser storage, there is no cookie consent banner on Akili Suite - there is simply nothing to consent to beyond what is needed to make the platform work.
To clear portal storage manually: In Chrome/Edge: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data. In Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data. In Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
Clearing your browser storage will log you out of the portal. Your firm's data remains on our servers - this only affects what's cached locally in your browser.
